SPARTA, NJ – Ed Poggi’s double in the top of the 10th  inning snapped a 4-4 extra inning thriller to lead the Watchung Hills Hustlin’ Warriors past Pope John 5-4. Watchung Hills junior Nick Mink who was 3 for 5 on the day scored the game winning run. Mink had three runs scored on the day.

Warrior lefty Nick Cortes recorded his first victory of the season working two innings of relief allowing no runs on just one hit. Watchung Hills’ Tyler Lombardo threw six innings allowing one earned on just five hits while striking out seven in a no-decision.

Pope John’s Jake Wells had eight innings of work allowing three earned runs on six hits in a no-decision.

The victory improves Watchung Hills’ record to 4-1 on the season while Pope John falls to 3-1.
