WARREN, NJ - The Warrior tribe was out in force as the Watchung Hills boys soccer team shut out Ridge, 2-0 under the lights at Tozier Field and the Warriors celebrated Senior Night, Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Watchung Hills' record now stands at 3-2. "We were coming off a loss and a 10-day layoff, so it was important to get a good result tonight. The team played well and got a nice win as we celebrated our 12 seniors tonight, " said coach Salton.
Watchung Hills had 17 shots on goal.
Keith Garcia and Ryan Santos scored a goal apiece on assists from
Hans Hoffman and Tim Voorhees.
Matt Grunstein made 10 saves for Watchung Hills.
Joining the fans were future Warriors and the Long Hill, Green Brook and Warren Middle School soccer teams.
At the half, the high school coaching staff spotlighted this year’s high school seniors of the boys varsity soccer team with presentations on the field. All of the seniors and their parents were recognized. The boys each received a commemorative soccer ball and presented flowers to their mothers.
The Warriors thanked the Watchung Hills Soccer Association, " where many of the Warriors' players got their start," for their donation of the soccer balls.
To quote one of the tribe, "Nights like tonight make me not want to leave high school."
