WARREN, NJ - The Watchung Hills boys varsity soccer team started the season with a confidence boosting double overtime tie with Pingry on Thursday, 1-1.
Early reports have Pingry as a top 20 team in the state.
"What a great start our boys soccer team gave us to our fall athletics season!" Said WHRHS Director of Athletics Chris Van Vliet. "We are very proud of their effort and congratulate Coach Leonow, his staff, and all of the boys soccer players! Great job Warriors!"
The Warriors scored first when Chris Miereles kicked one in on a Ryan Santos assist in the first half. Pingry answered back before the break as Alexy Alin-Hvidsten hit on an assist by Mitchell Flugstad-Clarke.
And that was it for the scoring.
Tim Scanlon saved 16 in goal for Watchung Hills.
