BASKING RIDGE, NJ - The Watchung Hills girls lacrosse team defeated Pingry on Wednesday in both team's season opener. Madelyn Murphy scored five goals and Julia Burton scored four to lead Watchung Hills over Pingry, 14-11.

Katelyn Carroll scored three goals and added five assists for the Warriors.  

Four year starting keeper Kiera Vrindten was lost to graduation and now plays for Dartmouth College but sophomore keeper Shannon Twill was stellar in goal stopping 12 shots.

Pingry took an early lead and was up 5-2 before the Warriors settled in to tie the game 7-7 at the half. 

Mary Pagano led Pingry with a hat trick and one assist. Pingry keeper Allison Hosler stopped seven shots.

Watchung Hills next plays Somerville on April 4.
