WARREN, NJ - Both the Watchung Hills boys and girls soccer teams fell to Hunterdon Central on Friday by the same score, 2-1.
At home, after a 0-0 tie at the half, the boys scored first on a Sam DiMizio goal. Central scored on a penalty kick to send the game to overtime and again in the first overtime period to end the game. “It was definitely a heartbreaker to give up a penalty kick in the final three minutes sending us to overtime,” said WHRHS boys head coach Greg Leonow.” I’m proud of our guys hard work. They left it all on the field but unfortunately didn’t come away with a win.” Zach Sharenow stopped 8 shots in goal for Watchung Hills.
In Flemington, the girls were tied 1-1 at the half on a goal from Jadyn Fleischhaker on an assist from Emily Morris. Rebecca Schell stopped 10 shots in goal for the Warriors. Regan Schubach and Lilli Gemma scored for Hunterdon Central.
The Warriors next play at Phillipsburg on Saturday(girls) and at Hillsborough Wednesday(boys).
