WARREN, NJ - According to the National Weather Service, a winter-weather advisory is in effect starting at 1 p.m. for Sussex, Warren, Morris, and the northern half of Passaic County. Warren and the northern parts of Somerset County could also be affected.

A wintry mix is expected to start this afternoon, making a potentially slippery evening commute for the northern part of the state. Snowfall could reach 1 to 2 inches in the advisory area, and could also leave as much as a tenth of an inch of ice, said Lance Franck, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s office in Mount Holly.

The winter-weather advisory is expected to last until 1 a.m.
