WARREN, NJ - Warren Township Schools and Watchung Hills Regional High School have made the call. There will be a two hour delayed opening today, Jan. 12. The delayed opening times for Warren schools are, ALT: 10:10 a.m., Central, Mt. Horeb and Woodland: 10:40 a.m.,Middle: 9:55 a.m. and Watchung Hills: 9:30 a.m.

The storm has a name. Winter Storm Hektor will slam New Jersey with freezing rain, sleet and snow during the Monday morning commute, according to the National Weather Service.

Hektor brought light icing to parts of Texas Friday and Saturday and is now heading to the north and east.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Winter Weather Advisory for much of New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania has been issued for a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain expected to arrive on Sunday night and Monday morning.

The snow and sleet will change over to rain before it may change back briefly to a snow-and-sleet mixture monday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow and sleet accumulations are expected to be less than 1 inch, along with a trace of ice.

Untreated roads could be slippery, making the morning commute more difficult than usual, according to the National Weather Service.

I- 78 and I-287 will be impacted along with local roads.Bridges and overpasses are the first to ice over. If driving, reduce speed and allow extra time to reach your destination.

Expect icy conditions and possible closures on Hillcrest Rd., Washington Ave., Warrenville Rd. and Morning Glory Rd.  in Warren.

The threat of sleet and freezing rain Monday stretches along the heavily-populated I-95 Northeast urban corridor, including the New Jersey Turnpike, making the Monday morning commute potentially challenging.
