Canvassing: A most fulfilling experience

November 4, 2017

Meeting residents in person, being invited into their homes, and getting to know neighbors more by canvassing has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences.  Come Election Day, Win or Lose, I will treasure meeting everyone, including those I spoke with over the phone.

To those whose doors I have ...

Truth & Consequences

When people say something false, we learn a universal truth: WE LEARN NOT TO TRUST THEM.

The Republicans put out a mailer the other day that stated I support “massive new government healthcare, “$1.3 billion in taxes,” and “an extreme agenda.” They thought they could scare you into voting for Bramnick and Muñoz. None of that is the truth.

I’ve ...

Making New Jersey More Affordable

As I knock on the doors of my constituents, it is not surprising to hear that one central theme keeps recurring, namely, affordability. The people of District 21 want to know what can be done to make it more affordable to live here now and into the future. I understand your concerns. After all, my family has a long history here as well and I am hopeful that my daughters will want to ...

Parting Advice from Four Decades on the Front Lines of Local News

November 11, 2017

In February 1978 I walked into the office of The Rahway News-Record and Clark Patriot to begin what I thought was to be a short-term job stepping stone.

Instead, it turned out to be a nearly 40-year odyssey in local journalism—including the last eight—overwhelmingly great—years with The Alternative Press (TapInto.Net).

I have decided it is time to spend more time in ...

Landmark Water Tower Along Route 206 Torn Down and Dismantled

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ – Looming over the former GSA complex along Route 206 since World War II, the water storage tower had grown obsolete years ago.

It had always been a roost for pigeons, hawks and other birds of prey, affording an expansive view of the township, nearby Manville and beyond. In more recent years, it had sprouted an odd assortment of satellite dishes and repeaters used by ...
