It all started with a berry. A delicious, super nutritious, acai berry from the acai palm tree native to Central and South America.

Frutta Bowls was launched in 2016 by Brooke Gagliano and her father, Patrick. Brooke was 23 years old.

“I got so excited when I had an açaí bowl for the first time, “ said Brooke. “ I  face-timed my whole family and told them this was what I wanted to do”.

Entrepreneurship, and fitness, runs in the Gagliano family. Pat started his own construction company and Brooke’s mother, Maria, owns her own salon company. And , Brooke said, she and her dad work out at CrossFit.

The first Frutta Bowls, in Howell, officially launched on May 21, 2016.

Frutta Bowls now operates as a franchise with locations opening soon in towns across the country. “The very first week we were open people were asking about franchising,” Brooke said. “Kelsey from the Marlboro store was my first franchisee.”

Christine Getz of Green Brook is managing the Warren location and Joe Morano and Nick Netta are the owners of the franchise location.

Many customers refer to Frutta Bowls as their healthy addiction.  Colts Neck resident Miranella Hilal said, "I am absolutely addicted. I'm a health food person and it's not always easy because I'm a foodie too. Frutta Bowls is healthy, delicious and satisfying. Recently, I picked up one of their party platters for a luncheon and it was a hit! All the ladies loved it and it was guilt free!"

Frutta Bowls serves 18 different bowls as well as a variety of smoothies. The bowl bases are acai, pitaya, kale or oatmeal. https://fruttabowls.com/bowls/
