WARREN, NJ - Grade 3 students from Angelo L. Tomaso (ALT) School, Central School, Mt. Horeb School and Woodland School joined together with their teachers, principals and members of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) for an entertaining and educational shared science assembly on November 20 at ALT.

A scientist, from the Franklin Institute, dazzled the students during the Traveling Science Show with a presentation titled Motion and Machines. The 3rd-grade students learned about the basic physics of motion during the interactive program.

Student volunteers were called upon to participate in demonstrations. Throughout the entire show, students were laughing, smiling, engaging and learning. The visiting scientist was an expert and truly captivated the students and adults in the room.  Through the combined efforts of the PTO’s from each school, this presentation was a huge success.

ALT Board President, Carina Bellman is looking forward to future multi-school events. “This year in the spirit of collaboration across schools, providing students with shared experiences and making our PTO dollars stretch, ALT invited the other schools to attend some of our grade level assemblies. With the support of all PTO presidents, the Board of Education and all of the school principals, we were able to make this PTO sponsored event happen and are excited for the potential of being able to offer similar experience to other grades. It's important to note that Central School coordinated the first district-wide Family Fun day this fall at Meadowbrook, that Mt. Horeb is organizing the first district-wide Mom’s Night Out and there are several other special events in discussion! This year the PTO presidents from all schools are making a conscious effort to collaborate in the interest of providing all the children in the district with the best possible experiences.”

Dr. Matthew Mingle, Superintendent of Schools, concurred. “The PTO presidents have been exploring opportunities to collaborate more and more each year and this year’s sharedassembly builds on the work of previous PTO leaders to provide a great experience for our students.”
