WARREN, NJ - Unofficial results are in. With 100 percent of the districts reported, results are in favor of the referendum, with 806 votes for and 185 votes against. 991 of 12,821 registered voters turned out to vote. All vote totals and results are unofficial until certified by election officials.

The unofficial results do not include mail-in or absentee ballots.

Warren Township residents voted on Jan. 22 to decide the future of a $6.5 million Warren Township school referendum. With voter support, the state will provide approximately $2.2 million of aid for capital projects, which include boiler and pump replacements, HVAC upgrades, and partial window and roof replacement, with the remainder to be paid out of the district’s capital reserves.

Information on the referendum from the Warren Township Board of Education is as follow:

The Warren Township School District is in need of capital improvements to maintain school facilities and provide for the health and safety of students and staff. The District has been methodically saving for such needs through its capital reserve fund for several years. The District will receive approximately 34% of the project costs from the state if the referendum described below receives voter approval. If the referendum fails, the Board of Education would need to provide 100 percent of the funding.
