My name is Jolanta Maziarz, and I am running to continue my work as Township Committeewoman in Warren Township. For those of you who may not know me, I would like to take a few moments to tell you a little bit about myself.

Almost twenty years ago, my husband, our two little girls and I moved to Warren. It was our dream to live here, and I could not imagine raising my daughters and my two younger sons anywhere else. Like all of you, I love this town and all that it has been and all that it continues to be for me and my family. I have experienced our town through the many stages of our lives. I have been a stay at home mom, a soccer mom, a dance mom, a carpooling mom—you name it—and now I’m an almost empty nester. My kids grew up here, and in a sense, so did I. I know this town, and I have experienced, first hand, what it offers from schools to recreation to services. I am more than ready and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that the great town my family grew up in continues to be just that for all of our residents.
A few months ago, I was delighted to have been appointed to the Warren Township Committee to complete the term vacated by Committeewoman Carolann Garafola. I was humbled and thankful that members of the town and the other Township Committee Members had the confidence and trust in me to appoint me to that position. Since that time, I have worked diligently in this role and hope that you will give me the opportunity to continue for the next three years. Much like Carolann, I am a “one of a kind” voice on the Township Committee, I think for obvious reasons. As a woman and a mother of four, I offer a decidedly different point of view from my male counterparts, and while this should not be a dispositive factor, I believe it is valuable to the residents in our town.

In my personal business endeavors, my husband and I own our home in Warren and also are small business owners, who have owned and operated multiple rental properties in other towns for the last twenty five years. I have also been an equity partner in a law firm, responsible for not only providing legal services, but for the operation of a law office. The experience and understanding of business that I have acquired over the years is not merely academic. My involvement in the budgeting process, in marketing, in providing services in a timely manner, in projecting costs and expenses, in resolving conflict and finding solutions to problems, among other business skills, has well-prepared me to help contribute to town management.

In addition, I have spent most of my professional career as an attorney practicing in the area of local government law, advising municipalities and boards and assisting in many of the day-to-day issues that they face. I have had the opportunity to work with elected and appointed officials throughout the State and have experienced, first hand, the problems that arise and the various ways to address those problems. I hope to draw upon this varied wealth of experience to serve Warren Township and provide options for the entire Township Committee to consider when solving problems that face our town. For years now, I have navigated a legal field that is predominantly male and have successfully forged business relationships and, even more importantly, alliances and friendships due, in large part, to my ability to communicate, build consensus, and effectively solve problems. I have worked hard and have earned not only the friendship, but the respect of my colleagues, professionals in other disciplines with whom I regularly work, and the officials I serve. Through my work, I have developed important relationships and contacts throughout the State that will assist me in more effectively serving Warren Township.

If elected, I will support a fiscally conservative budget and the implementation of cost-saving measures, such as green initiatives, outsourcing and shared services that make sense for our community. I will use my experience to find solutions to the issues that Warren faces and will face in the future, whether they be routine, day to day planning or management issues, or extraordinary matters, such as the implementation of the current and potential future affordable housing requirements. I believe that continued, thoughtful planning and a commitment of time and energy will be required of all of our elected officials, as we navigate the various issues and mandates that Warren will face. I am confident that my longevity in town and my understanding of our residents, combined with my professional and business experience, will enable me to successfully address any challenges that we will face. I will never approach a problem or make a decision without careful study, consideration, and public outreach. I value communication, and my door will always be open to all of our residents. I am grateful to have had this opportunity to serve and to run for office because of all of the new people that I have met and the overwhelmingly positive responses that I have received with regard to my candidacy and campaign.
I would be thrilled and honored to serve you for the next three years and humbly ask for your vote on November 5th. For more information, please visit
