WARREN, NJ - Need chicken? Want to help? Now you can have both. The Township Committee announced at Thursday’s meeting that they will be assisting Ridge High School student Carys Law and the Bernard's Regional Chamber of Commerce in hosting a fundraising project called FEED TO GIVE to support the Food Bank Network of Somerset County.
Order now for pick up on April 22.
"My name is Carys Law, I am a junior at Ridge High School and I would like to raise money for the Food Bank Network Of Somerset County, since so many are in need at this time. My idea is simple and easy to achieve. My Father is with Lawson Foods, a food supplier for restaurants and like businesses here in New Jersey. The company is donating 10 pound bags of chicken breasts for my project which is to accept donations, per bag, I recommend a $1 per pound, coming to $10 per bag (10lbs Bag).
People will go on venmo or paypal and take care of their donation online. They in turn will get a print out confirming their order and what time to arrive to pick up their order. The way the program works is as follows;
- People will order the amount of chicken they wish to donate towards and all donations are made online.
- upon arrival they display their print out in their window of their vehicle.
- we will bring the chicken to their back seat or trunk for them. No one is allowed out of their car.
- the entire time at pick up is approximately three minutes.
Lawson Foods brings the chicken in a refrigerated truck and keeps the chicken in the truck and bags it per order as people arrive. It is a seamless encounter. We wear gloves and masks, use sanitizer and wipes regularly. We have no more than 5 people working and we observe the social distancing rules.
100% of the funds taken in will be donated to the Food Bank Network Of Somerset County! People get delicious chicken at a great price, the Food Pantry gets needed funds to help people they care for in these tough times. It is a Win - Win! Thank you for your help on this, it is appreciated! "
