NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - Car Nutz Car Club, celebrating its 15th Anniversary this year, is gearing up for its annual show at the inaugural North Plainfield Festival on Saturday. The North Plainfield Fall Festival is a community wide event designed to bring local organizations together with the schools to celebrate the new school year.
Can Nutz is a civic minded group of Muscle and Classic car enthusiasts that enjoy cars and each other's company. The club was founded 15 years ago in 2004 when six Charter members got together at Bagelmasters deli, ( Dan Battista, Alan Bender, Neil Gary, Mike Pellegrino,Tony Stanislau and Larry Van Winkle) and Car Nutz was born. The club supports many local charities including North Plainfield Project Graduation.
The name suggestion came from Ralph Schaeffer.
Car Nutz now has 35 members and they are hoping for 125 cars at this year’s show. Prizes are awarded in various categories, including 20 class trophies.
“My favorite car that I have owned would be a 1966 Impala Super Sport, or a 1971 Le Mans Sport Convertible,” said Battista. “Probably the best car I have seen at our show has been Larry VanWinkles 1958 Impala.”
This year, the North Plainfield Fall Festival and Car Nutz Car Show is set for Sept. 28 at North Plainfield High School, 34 Wilson Ave., North Plainfield, NJ 07060. The car show runs from 9-3, and the festival runs from 11-4.
