Flavors available include espresso chip, cinna-yum, smokin’ s’mores, not-hot chocolate, summer rose, salted caramel, and raspberry mint sorbet as well as hand-crafted non-dairy delights for dogs. Santaan’s will be donating 15% of their ice cream sale purchases made from August 28th through September 5th to support the Watchung PTO. All orders will be available for free delivery or pick-up. Food Truck Fridays is an effort being organized by the Watchung PTO to support students and their families attending district schools. The PTO is commencing its fundraising efforts before the opening of the school year to generate funds for COVID-19 hand-sanitizing stations, cleaning supplies, and contactless paper towel dispensers needed in September at Bayberry and Valley View Schools.
This fundraising initiative takes place on five consecutive Fridays this summer: August 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th, and September 4th, rain or shine from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bayberry School. The Watchung PTO hopes to continue Food Truck Fridays into the fall. Each week, dinner entree-based trucks alongside a dessert truck will be featured selling local specialties to area residents. Trucks will donate a percentage of their proceeds back to the Watchung PTO. All food purchased will be for take-out, and participants are requested to follow COVID-19 guidelines and social distancing measures.
Dine-to-Donate is an effective fundraising method utilized by the Watchung PTO over the last several years, providing a social connection for residents, a boost to area restaurant businesses, and funds for the school district.
