WARREN, NJ - The Arc of Somerset County has set to break ground after a five year capital campaign initiative launch for Camp Jotoni, a special needs summer camp located at 51 Old Stirling Rd. in Warren. Supporters, camp families and the surrounding special needs communty celebrated “Shovels and Champagne” on the evening of Thursday, September 12 to initiate the initial groundbreaking.

Camp Jotoni is a 15 acre day and residential camp for children and adults with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities operating since 1976.  The camp has experienced over 40 years of wear and tear of the four camper sleeping cabins. Over the years, numerous corporate and community volunteers have descended upon Camp Jotoni for remediate repairs and traditional seasonal upkeep after each winter season.

In early 2014, The Arc Foundation of Somerset County, board and staff launched the campaign initiative to raise 1 million dollars within a five year period to get the initial first phase of construction, design and approvals needed to renovate the first two of the four cabins. Over the last ten years, the camp has attracted campers with a growing need of accessibility with expansion on serving individuals with complex medical and behavioral  needs. In addition, families of campers have expressed interest in additional camp and respite programs that extend beyond the summer season.
