WARREN, NJ – The rain has started and the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm and flood watch for Somerset County and the region until 9 p.m. Sunday. Some power outages have been reported in Warren and Long Hill.

At 6 p.m. “Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms across eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey,” the weather service said. “Automatic rain gages in the are have reported up to one inch of rain in less than one hour, and additional rain is moving in from the west. Low lying areas may flood where the heaviest rain happens to fall. Poor drainage and roadway flooding can also be expected.

“Minor hail damage to vehicles is possible. Expect wind damage to trees and power lines.”
