WARREN, NJ - One of the members of the Watchung Hills Board of Education tendered her resignation at Tuesday’s meeting.

Board member Lisa DiMizio  of Long Hill has resigned effective Aug. 1 citing a new job with a longer commute and time commitments as the reason. DiMizio has served the students of Long Hill and Watchung Hills for the past 11 years.

Board President Peter Fallon read the proclamation.

DiMizio said that she is proud of the board and is disappointed that she must resign now due to work obligations just when her daughter will be a freshman at Watchung Hills.

Board member Robert Morrison, Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Jewett and Fallon spoke about her passion and commitment.

DeMizio ran unopposed in November 2017 returning to the board for a three year term that began in January 2018. The board will be seeking to fill the unexpired term with another Long Hill resident.

The board has 65 days from the effective date of DiMizio’s resignation date of Aug. 1 to appoint a replacement.
