WARREN, NJ - The snow has started to fall. The National Weather Service is forecasting as much as 8 to 12 inches of snow to accumulate across the northern half of New Jersey and Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency.
The Warren Township Municipal Building and the Warren Library are closed today, Wednesday, Mar. 7 due to the storm. Watchung Borough offices and all Somerset County offices are also closed.
The county’s public transit is running but delays and/or cancellations of routes may occur as the storm progresses.
Warrenbrook and the Senior Wellness Centers in Bernards and Bridgewater are closed Wednesday, March 7.
Warren Township Schools, Watchung Hills Regional High School, all the sending districts, North Plainfield Schools and Raritan Valley Community College have all made the call to cancel school and all after school activities on Wednesday, Mar. 7.
All WYBA recreation and travel home practices and games are cancelled. For away travel games you should check with your coach.
Forecasters anticipate hazardous travel conditions statewide.
Be prepared for icy road conditions in Warren, especially Hillcrest Road, Morning Glory Road, Warrenville Road and Washington Avenue. Visibility could be reduced to a quarter of a mile or less at times, and snow-covered roadways will create hazardous travel conditions. Drivers are urged to use caution.

Help the Department of Public Works with snow removal by removing your vehicle from the side of the road. Do not push snow from your driveway back onto the street and do not call 9-1-1 about snow removal from your street.
After the storm, remember to clear all snow and ice for your vehicle, sidewalks and fire hydrants.
Be prepared in case of power outages. Charge your electronics, get batteries, flashlights and candles ready.
Municipalities in Somerset County will offer warming centers at various locations during regular business hours on Wednesday and beyond as needed.

New Jersey Transit said it is implementing its severe storm schedule. Customers should check njtransit.com for updates.
A "Severe Weather Rail Schedule'' is a limited weekday rail schedule utilized during weather events or other emergency situations.
Cross-honoring will be in effect for Wednesday, March 7 on NJ TRANSIT bus and private carriers, rail and light rail services. At this time, it is not anticipated that there will be cross-honoring on PATH or NY Waterway ferries.
Regular weekday service for bus, light rail and Access Link will operate as long as conditions allow.
