BASKING RIDGE, NJ—Local teens have organized a Dance-A-Thon on February 22, 2019 at St. Mark’s Church in Basking Ridge to raise money and awareness of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Chiari malformation, with proceeds going to the family of Krissy and Zach Klein of Colorado, whose four children age 8 to age 12 all suffer from this rare condition. The family is being denied medical care in their home state of Colorado, and the children are being cared for in NYC hospitals.

“I am proud to organize this event to raise awareness for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and to help the Klein family whose four children suffer from the disorder,” says Athena Bernaz, an 8th grader at William Annin Middle School who has a younger brother with EDS and Chiari. “Their two daughters have undergone numerous surgeries and life-threatening infections, and one is on comfort care now.”

Middle schoolers are invited to enjoy an evening of dance, games, music, and food, with prizes awarded for top fundraisers and best dancers. Suggested sponsorship is $100 per entry and children are encouraged to raise this money through donations.
