BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A subject has been taken into custody without incident, and there is no threat to the public at this time following a report of shots fired on Country Club Road around 5 p.m. Monday, according to Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Deputy Chief Frank Roman.

According to Roman, the Somerset County SWAT team was activated earlier Monday evening on a call to police about shots fired on Country Club Road in Bridgewater. SWAT and Bridgewater police responded to the scene, Roman said.

As of 7 p.m. Monday, Roman said, the subject had been taken into custody without incident, and there were no injuries.

"And there were no shots fired at law enforcement," he said.

Roman said there is no threat to the public.

The matter remains under investigation by the Bridgewater Township Police and Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit. More information will follow at a later time.
