WARREN, NJ - The arrest of Robert A. Kilpatrick, Jr., age 27, E. Front Street, Plainfield, for an armed robbery which occurred in Warren Township on July 29, was announced Thursday by Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Warren Township Chief of Police William E. Keane.

 

Prosecutor Robertson stated that on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at approximately 1:38 a.m., Warren Township Police responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting an armed robbery in the area of Quail Run, Warren Township, New Jersey.  Responding Officers encountered two victims who relayed to officers that they were robbed at gunpoint of cash by two males.  The victims provided officers with a description of the vehicle, along with a detailed description of the males.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that detectives from the Warren Township Police Department along with the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to conduct the investigation. The incident was determined to be an isolated incident, and investigators determined that one of the suspects was known to one of the victims. The victims were not injured in this incident.

 

Further investigation conducted by Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Warren Township Police identified defendant Kilpatrick as an individual involved in the robbery.  Defendant Kilpatrick was taken into custody on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at his residence in Plainfield, New Jersey without incident in regards to the robbery.  Defendants Quinton D. Parks and Jose I. Lopez were both previously charged on July 29, 2020 as a result of this investigation.  

 

Prosecutor Robertson stated that defendant Kilpatrick has been charged with first degree Robbery, second degree Possession of a Firearm While Committing a CDS Offense, second degree Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose, and third degree Possession of CDS (Marijuana over 1 ounce but less than 5 pounds) with the Intent to Distribute.  Defendant Kilpatrick was lodged at the Somerset County Jail pending a bail detention hearing.
