NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - It started with demolition. And now construction has begun on the new Wawa at the former location of Fabricland on Route 22 at Wilson Avenue.

After 57 years in North Plainfield, Fabricland and their sister company, Metropolitan Window Fashions relocated in 2018 down the road in Green Brook. They have been in business for 85 years, continuously owned by the same family.  Bruce Heyman is the owner and grandson of the founder.   “Our business is now 75% window fashions and 25% fabric,” Heyman told the Chamber.  “The building we occupied for the past 50 years was outdated and we are delighted to move into a 9,000 square foot showroom, the largest window fashions showroom in New Jersey, that highlights our Hunter Douglas Gallery, along with custom and readymade drapery display.

The 24-hour Wawa convenience store and gas station is projected to open late in 2019.
