WHRHS head Girls Basketball coach Reece Kirchofer, Coach K, lauded   Cunningham’s talents both on the court and in the classroom.  Not only is she the highest scoring basketball athlete in the history of WHRHS with 1,718 points, she is also academically gifted and will be attending Princeton University in the fall where she will play Division I basketball.

He said  he was happy to have been a small part of her career and that it was a privilege to both coach and teach Cunningham.

“I think just the overwhelming support that you see here tonight bodes or speaks tremendously for the type of person that Julia is.”

Cunningham never missed a game.

And Mayor Stephen Pote, himself a WHRHS and Princeton graduate presented Cunningham with some mementos and joked that,” god went to Princeton.”

April 19 was proclaimed as Julia Cunningham Day in the Borough of Watchung.
