On December 10, 2019, the Watchung Hills Pop Warner JV Large Level 2 Cheer squad became undefeated National Champions at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, FL.

The team took 1st place in all 3 of their competitions during the regular season which afforded them a bid to compete at the Pop Warner National Championships, thus making them 4 time undefeated champions.

They performed a nearly flawless routine with zero deductions and ended up with the highest score of the day as well as the 1stplace trophy in their division, beating out 9 teams from across the country.

The team consists of 13 8th graders, 13 7thgraders, and 1 6th grader from Warren, Watchung, Green Brook, and North Plainfield.

Despite one of their team members becoming ill and being unable to compete at Nationals, they redid some of their routine in 2 days and still managed to pull of the championship.

This group of girls has been working together since August 1st and like a family, they’ve bonded and created something very special.

They were coached by head coach Suzie Aschoff, assistant coaches Sarah Claxton, Karina Stephens, and Jennifer Raposo, and supported by their amazing Team Mom Kim Thomasson.

Thank you to all of the cheer parents/families, WH Pop Warner board, and the community for their support in helping the team get to Nationals.  Any and all support has been greatly
