WARREN, NJ - It went to extra innings in the rain in Warren. The Bridgewater-Raritan baseball team overcame a three-run deficit and scored a run in the top of the eighth inning to top Watchung Hills on Friday, 4-3.

In Bridgewater, Grace Martino allowed seven hits, walked one and struck out seven for Bridgewater-Raritan (4-3) to lead the Panthers over the Warriors, 4-0. Meredith Hurley and Julia Schinik each went 2-for-3 for Watchung Hills (0-7) and Sophia Cicchetti made two amazing diving catches in center field for the Warriors but Watchung Hills never crossed the plate.

Elliott Rodgers went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI for the Panthers (5-2), who scored two runs in the sixth inning and then one each in the seventh and eighth innings. Greg Verano doubled in a run and Justin Sinibaldi and Anthony Scarlata each had RBI singles in the victory. Jeff Bolka pitched two shutout innings of relief, allowing one hit, and Verano threw a scoreless eighth for the save for the Panthers.

The Hustlin’ Warriors will host Summit on Saturday for Jubilee Day.
