WARREN, NJ - The Watchung Hills girls soccer team defeated Sparta on Thursday, 2-1. Emily Morris netted a goal, and Jenna Tobia had a goal and an assist for the Warriors. 

“This was a good win for us,” said WHRHS head coach Brian Figueiredo.  “Sparta is a solid program who is having an excellent year, and it shows everyone including our players that our tough schedule has prepared us very well to compete with quality teams throughout the state.”

Watchung Hills scored first and Sparta tied it up before the half. Tobia hit a beauty from 25 yards out to give the Warriors the 2-1 lead with 30 minutes left in the second half. Olivia Enderle scored on a Kate Mazzella assist for Sparta.

Rebecca Schell had five saves in goal for Watchung Hills. 


The Warriors next face Bridgewater at home on Saturday at 11 a.m.
