The PTO Council operates a food pantry to benefit families in the Wayne community who are in need. Lisa Apa, Katie Hughes and Janine Thompson have been a vital part of this effort to ensure that the families of Wayne have what they need. The Association has a strong bond with the Wayne community and is eager to ease the burden placed on many families by the tough economic times. When the Council of PTO's informed the WEA of the need for food and durable bags to distribute supplies, we devised a way to help.

The WEA donated reusable grocery totes to the PTO food bank in order to provide a sturdy and eco-friendly way to help families in need collect groceries. We also recently donated over $500 in groceries to the Wayne Council of PTO’s Food Bank to help give relief to the members of the Wayne community. The PTO food bank supports people in need within the Wayne community; always looking for donations of gift cards to local grocery stores, toiletries, cereal, pasta, cooking oil, mayo, snack items, coffee, tea & juice. If you would like to make a donation, please contact Katie at If you are in need and live in Wayne, please contact your school nurse for more information.

This is a full community effort and Mrs. Hughes was proud to say, “ We are grateful to the WEA for their support of the PTO Food Bank and their generous donations as well as bringing focus to the very real needs of families in our community. ”
