LINCOLN PARK, N.J. – April 16, 2020 –Vanguard Medical Group in Lincoln Park has expanded its diagnosis and treatment options to include video visits. New and existing patients are now offered appointments by video in addition to eCare, online diagnosis and treatment, and office visits if necessary. Same-day appointments are available.

 

Coronavirus Procedures

 

Vanguard continues to take the recommended precautions for patients and staff to avoid exposure to the coronavirus. Patients who think they may have symptoms of COVID-19 should call ahead so that staff may guide them to next steps. Patients concerned about the COVID-19 (the coronavirus) will start with a video visit. Vanguard will test only those whose results may affect treatment recommendations.

 

Types of Conditions Treated In-Person Vs. Telemedicine

 

In-person visits are required for certain conditions. All patients should call ahead for all appointments to be guided to the recommended options for their medical conditions. Most common medical conditions can be treated by telehealth/telemedicine.

 

Video visits can be used to manage:

  • Attention deficit disorder medications
  • Allergic reactions
  • Back pain
  • Cholesterol medications
  •  
  • Coughs and colds
  • Depression or anxiety follow-up
  •  
  •  
  •  
  • Bone density, including osteoporosis
  •  
  • Seasonal allergies
  • Thyroid medications
  • Urinary tract infections

Telemedicine Options: Video Visits and eCare

 

With video visits, a patient may call his or her local office number and schedule a video appointment time during business hours. The patient logs in using a computer, tablet or smartphone and is seen by a Vanguard provider who conducts the appointment via video. At the conclusion of the visit, the patient receives a diagnosis, treatment recommendations, and a prescription sent to his or her pharmacy, if needed. Video appointments are billed according to the patient’s insurance company policy. Major insurance plans are accepted.

 

eCare, Vanguard’s online diagnosis and treatment service, is available for common medical conditions. The patient logs in using a computer, tablet or smartphone and is prompted to complete a form to answer a few questions about his or her health symptoms. The patient receives a phone call within an hour with a diagnosis, treatment recommendations, and a prescription sent to his or her pharmacy, if needed. eCare visits are available from 8 am to 8 pm and cost $25. If the patient prefers, or if Vanguard providers cannot treat the patient remotely, the patient will be asked to schedule an office appointment. The patient won’t be charged for the video or online visit.

Existing patients can make appointments through the patient portal, website or by phone. Video appointments are made by phone only. New patients need to call the office for any type of appointment.
