PATERSON, NJ – The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders awarded $975,000 in grants to county municipalities through the Open Space, Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund. The resolution was passed on October 8, 2019.

 “The Open Space Trust Fund supports the beautification, restoration and maintenance of many of our county parks, historic sites and infrastructure,” stated Freeholder Director John Bartlett. “Current ongoing projects like the Dundee Island Improvements Project and the Goffle Brook Park Improvements Project, once completed, not only create a beautiful and welcoming environment for families, but also, attract tourism and revenue to our individual municipalities, which in turn, increases property value for our home owners”.

The opportunity to submit a grant application for funding under the 2019 Passaic County Open Space, Farmland, and Historic Preservation Trust Fund is open each year to all municipalities and non-profit organizations under the County of Passaic.

 “The Open Space Trust Fund has provided millions in funding to support the needs of our municipalities and non-profits,” stated Deputy Freeholder Director Cassandra “Sandi” Lazzara. “The Open Space Awards re-affirm Passaic County’s commitment in improving all Passaic County communities in collaboration with municipal governments and community organizations”.

The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders, in accordance with state laws, held a public hearing for the then proposed resolution in late summer of this year – August 13th,2019.

Below is the full list of grant recipients:

  1. Clifton: Richard Scale Park – $150,000
  2. Little Falls: Duva Field Improvement Project – $150,000
  3. Paterson: East Side Park Improvements – $150,000
  4. Paterson: Ivanhoe Mill Wheelhouse, Upper Raceway Park – $175,000
  5. Pompton Lakes: Willow Field/Joe Grill Complex Project – $150,000
  6. Wayne: Shai Shacknai Inclusive Park Playground – $150,000
