WAYNE, NJ - On Saturday, November 16, 2019, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s hosted a “Celebration of Beauty” event highlighting beauty inside and out with Passaic County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). The special event, commemorating National Adoption Month, featured complimentary makeovers at the department stores in Willowbrook Mall. Additionally, during the event, store managers from Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s donated a total $3,500 to Passaic County CASA in support of the organization’s mission to provide an advocate for every child in the Passaic County foster care system.

“We’re enormously grateful to Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, and Willowbrook Mall for their generous support and for opening their doors to Passaic County CASA to help us ensure that every child in the county foster care system is placed in a safe, nurturing, and permanent home. With the holidays approaching, and this month being National Adoption Month, we want to raise awareness of the needs of children in foster care, and in particular, the fact that many are eligible for adoption,” explained Erica Fischer-Kaslander, Executive Director of Passaic County CASA. “Children in foster care are among the most vulnerable, which is why the role that CASA volunteers play is so important and needed. For those who have the time to consider becoming a CASA volunteer or those looking to give, consider donating a gift to CASA and bringing joy to a child’s life.”

Both stores hosted information tables where shoppers interested in learning more about getting involved with CASA could speak to volunteers and staff members. In addition, Willowbrook Mall featured a Passaic County CASA “Holiday Wish Tree” adorned with ornaments representing children in foster care for whom shoppers could choose to purchase gifts.

“The holiday season is a very special time of year for Macy’s and as part of our efforts to support local communities we are proud to support Passaic County CASA with the grant of $2,500 to help children who are less fortunate,” stated Michelle Reccoppa, General Manager of Macy’s Willowbrook. “We believe CASA’s work is universally important, which makes them a terrific organization to promote to our shoppers. We know when they see the great work CASA volunteers are performing in their own community they won’t hesitate to stop, learn, and donate in any way they can. It’s our privilege to offer a platform to this outstanding organization.”

“On behalf of Bloomingdale’s Willowbrook and our grant program, the Bloomingdale’s Foundation, we were pleased to present CASA with a check for $1,000 to contribute towards their positive work advocating on behalf of children in our community who need it the most,” remarked Susan Nuzzolo, General Manager of Bloomingdale’s Willowbrook. “Bloomingdale’s has and continues to believe in partnering with local organizations that make a difference in our communities because we care about what our customers care about. It’s our pleasure to be able to support this wonderful organization that works to advocate for children in Passaic County.”

“Willowbrook Mall has been working with Passaic County CASA for a few years and we’re honored to continue our partnership this holiday season. CASA does tremendous work in the community and we want to support and amplify it,” highlighted Nancy Barbary, Senior General Manager of Willowbrook Mall. “We set up a Holiday Wish Tree next to Santa where we place stars with the wish lists of the children in foster care that CASA serves. We are asking Willowbrook customers to take a star from the tree and purchase the wish list gift for the child. The Willowbrook team will be gathering the presents and helping to wrap them for the children in time for the holidays.”
