WAYNE, NJ - The Wayne Township Public Schools presented their return to school proposal during the last Board of Education meeting. The final plan is dependent on the feedback of the town's stakeholder, particularly parents and teachers.
The deadline for having a final plan for school re-opening is only weeks away (in early August).
Wayne schools is asking that everyone who has a stake in the schools reopening to participate in a "Thought Exchange" Survey online and for parents of children who are registered in Wayne schools for this fall to fill out a second Parent Survey.
The Parent Survey is to be filled out one per household and will ask if your child is planning on attending school in-person and whether your child will be taking the bus, and other questions along this line.
The ThoughtExchange survey is asking any stakeholders to provide feedback on the proposed return to school plan and to provide any thoughts on kids returning to school. In the ThoughtExchange, participants can then rate other thoughts and ideas that were submitted anonymously. In this manner, thoughts and ideas are ranked from highest-rated to lowest-rated and will provide the school district with an idea of how Wayne, as a whole, thinks about the subject matter.
Dr. Toback wrote the following regarding the Parent Survey:
"This is an uncertain time, and we understand that many parents have mixed feelings when thinking about a return to school for their children. Our return to school proposal includes a number of actions intended to maintain our educational programs while protecting the health and safety of students and staff members. Some of these actions include reduced class sizes, requiring masks with health-related exceptions, screening, enhanced cleaning protocols, and flexibility that allows parents to keep their children home if they are not comfortable. The proposal can be viewed by clicking HERE.
At this point, we need to plan for the upcoming year, and we need your help. We would like feedback from our families regarding your intentions for your children for the upcoming school year. The data we collect from this survey will be used to analyze our plans for reopening schools. Please fill out one form per household."
For the Thought Exchange Survey, Toback wrote:
"We want to stay connected and hear your questions and ideas about moving forward during this challenging and uncertain time. We are smarter and better together. With that in mind, we are asking you to join us in this Thoughtexchange, which is focused on our return to school plan."
Both the Parent Survey and the ThoughtExchange will close on Monday, July 27
