WAYNE, NJ – During a safe, outdoor and masked 'Thank You' reception, Insurance company, Crum & Forster gave a significant $20,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Northwest New Jersey (BGCNWNJ) to help support hardship scholarships for local families.
With the COVID-19 pandemic still in full swing, fundraising for non-profits such the BGCNWNJ can be a challenge. Help from generous companies such as Crum & Forster can fill in the gaps left by the cancelation of so many fund-raising events. Members of the staff and Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club in Wayne were on hand to share their gratitude.
“This will be a game changer in how many scholarships we can award to kids in our area,” said Devon Maloney, the Director of Development and Marketing for the BGCNWNJ. “With so many families affected by job losses, our community needs us now more than ever.”
The BGCNWNJ Neighbors in Hardship Scholarship Fund was recently created to lessen the enrollment burden on local families. “This is to help ensure that every child in our community can have access to safe and reliable childcare,” added Maloney.
The scholarship fund has received over 100 individual donations from local community members, but Crum & Forster is the first corporate donor to the fund, according to Maloney.
Noel Briordy, the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager for Crum & Forster was happy to help. “We are excited that C&F is able to help support this new scholarship program,” she said with a big smile. “Our headquarters are in NJ and, as part of the community, we know this wonderful initiative the Boys & Girls Club has started will help more families who are in need of extra support right now.”
“It’s very rewarding to see that companies like Crum & Forster see the value in our mission,” said Maloney. “They have stepped up to ensure we can reach as many families as possible. We are so incredibly grateful for their commitment and support!”
The BGCNWNJ offers preschool, kindergarten enrichment and after school programs and children that attend the Wayne Boys & Girls Club helped to work on a "Thank you" banner. This included children whose families are recipients of scholarships made available through donations
