WAYNE, NJ – The top three winners of the Wayne Township Municipal Complex holiday door decorating contest were announced this week. The annual event featured over a dozen colorfully creative doors that gave the complex a holiday feel over the past couple of weeks.
“The door decorating contest has been going on for about forty years,” said Tim Roetman the Director of the Wayne Township Parks and Recreation Department. “Each year the judging is done by a different group and this year’s judges were the Keystone Club from the Boys and Girls club.
The teen volunteer group toured the municipal complex on Friday afternoon, visiting each department and judged each door based on their originality and creativity.
This year’s winner was the Planning and Zoning Department whose door featured a holiday beach scene centered with a snow man made of sand with Santa surfing behind him.
Second place was the Polar Express door from the Police Dispatchers. While Animal Control in the Health Department received the third-place award for their Christmas tree door.
