WAYNE, NJ – More than two months after the Wayne Public Library was forced to close their doors due to the COVID-19 outbreak, those doors are cracking back open to allow for limited and safe service. Starting Tuesday, May 26, the library will be offering no-contact curbside delivery of books. Also, the book-drop bin will be open to receive returned books beginning the same day.
Library card holders will be able to reserve materials through the online catalog via the library website. However, the inter-library loan services are not available at this time, so only the current library inventory is available, though that inventory is extensive.
Due to the uncertainty of when statewide interlibrary loan delivery services will resume, only materials currently available at the Wayne Public Library will be available to be reserved. Only 15 items can be placed on hold and checked out at this time.
Library staff will prepare items daily for pick up. When they’re ready, we’ll give you a call to arrange for pick up date and time. Materials can be picked up from 9 AM to 4:30 PM on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and from 9 AM to 8 PM on Tuesdays.
Mention to the staff that you will be picking up the items yourself, or if you are designating someone else to pick up materials for you.
When you arrive at the Library, please park at one of the three “Library Curbside Pickup” designated spaces in front of the library. Give us a call at 973-694-4272 to let us know you are here, and the make, model, and color of your vehicle.
When Library staff come out to deliver to your vehicles, please have your library card ready to show the staff member by putting up to your window. If you have been designated to pick up for someone else, please present a form of ID. After that, just pop your trunk and staff will place your materials in your car for you to enjoy!
VERY IMPORTANT: Since there are literally thousands of items ready to come back, and our book drop can only take so much at a time, the book drop will only be open from 9 AM to 4:30 PM on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and from 9 AM to 8 PM on Tuesdays. That way, Library staff can empty out the book drop and open space again for you to keep feeding the beast!
Please be aware that returned materials will not be immediately taken off of your record upon return. We will store materials for up to one week based on recommended guidelines, but don’t worry, you will NOT accumulate any fines. Thank you for holding onto and taking care of all those materials.
Any Questions, call the library: 973-694-4272 ext. 5210 or 5211.
