WAYNE- On Wednesday, September 11, from 4:30pm to 5:30pm, RWJBarnabas Health Wellness on Wheels (WOW) van is coming to Finn’s Mobile Home Park at 122 Fairfield Road, in Wayne. The WOW van is a greenhouse and cooking school on wheels. It will bring free demonstrations and nutrition education right into Finn’s Mobile Home Park.

Rosemary Acampora, the Director of Wayne Township’s Senior, Social Services & Welfare department said: “The Health Department and our grant partners have been working together to create sustainable change at Finn’s Mobile Home Park by providing easier access to healthy foods and physical activity.” 

All residents from Wayne Township are welcome to view this 35-foot vehicle, complete with a demonstration of hydroponic and earth box greenhouse as well as a full kitchen. In addition to providing education, WOW will bring fresh fruits and vegetables grown from RWJBarnabas Health greenhouses and/or local gardens. It’s custom-designed to provide a unique opportunity to educate families beyond traditional methods…to help connect food, behavior and health.

The WOW van will be parked within the entrance of Finn’s Mobile Home Park, 122 Fairfield Road, alongside City Green’s Mobile Farmers Market. The Mobile Farmers Market sells fresh, organic fruits and vegetables at reasonable prices. WIC, SNAP and Senior Vouchers are accepted.

According to Mary Ann Orapello, Wayne Township’s Health Officer, “The Wellness on Wheels education center will enable us to talk about, show, distribute and teach our residents the importance of eating healthy food.”
