Healthcare system devoted to comprehensive spine care enhances pain management services

As Altair Health, one of the nation’s first physician-managed healthcare systems devoted to comprehensive spine care, continues to expand the depth of its patient services, it has announced leading interventional spine and pain specialist Dr. David Bandola has joined the organization.

Dual Board-certified in interventional pain medicine and anesthesiology, Dr. Bandola combines advanced interventional/minimally invasive procedures, physical therapy, non-opioid medications and other adjunctive modalities to diagnose and treat various painful spine and musculoskeletal conditions.

“Interventional pain medicine is often the missing link between conservative care, such as physical therapy and medication, and surgical treatment,” Dr. Bandola explains. “Between those two ends of the spectrum, there’s a lot of opportunity to treat back and spine pain very successfully.”

Dr. Bandola has a special interest in sports-related pain syndromes, herniated discs, arthritic conditions and advanced interventional procedures, such as intradiscal and percutaneous disc techniques, vertebroplasty, implantable devices and spinal cord stimulators.

“As Altair Health conveniently brings together all of the specialties needed for evaluating and treating spine conditions within one integrated healthcare system, pain management is a big piece of the puzzle,” says Dr. Chris Valerian, COO of Altair Health. “Dr. Bandola’s expertise further builds our ability to deliver comprehensive care and guide patients every step of the way with whatever type of treatment they may need.”

With a state-of-the-art spine center in Morristown and a surgery center in Florham Park, Altair Health’s team of spine specialists – including neurosurgeons, physical therapists, pain management specialists, clinical psychologists, physiatrists, wellness specialists and more – manages each patient’s care from start to finish. Dr. Bandola will be seeing patients in Wayne, NJ.

Prior to joining Altair Health, Dr. Bandola spent nearly a decade at the prestigious Columbia University Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident, Clinical Fellow and Assistant Clinical Professor within the Division of Interventional Pain, Department of Anesthesia. In 2014, he founded North Jersey Interventional Spine Center in Wayne, NJ to address the medical needs of his hometown community.
