WAYNE, NJ – Mayor Chris Vergano broadcast his last daily video Coronavirus update on June 3, but the collection of data for new COVID-19 positive cases and deaths have continued.  Here is a recap of the numbers over the last seven days.

The state of New Jersey has reported to Wayne Township five deaths of Wayne residents during the past week.

  • June 4: Two
  • June 5: Two
  • June 6: Zero
  • June 7: One
  • June 8: Zero
  • June 9: Zero
  • June 10: Zero

The Township’s total deaths due to COVID-19 is now 173

There were 26 new positive cases for Wayne residents over the last seven days.

  • June 4: Eight
  • June 5: One
  • June 6: Seven
  • June 7: Two
  • June 8: Zero
  • June 9: Three
  • June 10: Five

Number of Wayne residents who have tested positive: 1,384

Number of Wayne residents who have tested negative: 3,306

Positive cases include:

  • Men: 8
  • Women: 18
  • Average Age: 69
  • Age Range: 23 - 89

Of Note: The New Jersey Department of Health has mandated that all residents and staff of long-term care facilities be tested for COVID-19 on a weekly basis. This began on May 26. It was expected that this would cause an increase in positive cases. The numbers so far do not reflect this expectation.
