WAYNE, NJ – Wayne Mayor Chris Vergano uploaded his daily coronavirus video to the Township website this afternoon. Here’s a summary of what he had to say:
“Today is Monday, March 23, 2020,” began the Mayor. "Today, I can report to you that we have three new positive cases, bringing the total to twenty-two.
- 30-year-old male
“All are being treated at home and do not need hospitalization,” said Vergano. “As I said yesterday, I expect the number to climb and three additional cases is just what we thought was going to happen, if not more each day.”
Once again, the Mayor mentioned that they are bound by law not to give out any personal information about the people who have tested positive.
“If by chance, you were in contact with any of these people, you will be contacted by the Wayne Health Department,” he said, then thanking the hard work of all the staff at the Health Department and the entire Town.
"This is twenty-two people out of 54,711 who live in Wayne," said Vergano
Vergano’s next topic was the drive-up coronavirus testing center which will open soon at the William Paterson University campus. They are looking for volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, contact the Mayor via email: firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Health Department at 973-694-1800
“As of today, the state has 934 additional positive cases and an additional seven deaths,” Vergano said, reading from the notes on his desk.
Supplies are needed to help our people take care of the sick.
“Our local hospitals, our First Aid Squad and our nursing homes are all in need of N-95 masks,” he said. “If you have them in your business and your home and you want to donate them, please email me at email@example.com”
“This is my thirteenth year as your Mayor, and these are the most difficult times we have faced,” he said in closing. “But we are going to face them together and get through this.”
