The event started at 11:00 am where the community was invited to hear Michele Gilbert, a nurse practitioner with the Chilton Heart Success Program, speak about the differences in incidence, risk factors, symptoms, and treatment options for both men and women.

The 60-minute discussion, followed by a question and answer period, focused on how cardiovascular disease impacts men and women differently and how each gender can make lifestyle modifications to lower the risk.

After the presentation, participants had the opportunity to walk through a giant inflatable heart and explore resource tables to learn more about what can be done to keep hearts strong.

Students from the local JFK Elementary School and Wayne YMCA education programs also participated in the event.
