WAYNE, NJ – This week’s Wayne Coronavirus update is for the week of Aug 20 – Aug 26.

Twenty-six days into August, and we are still only reporting one death for the month. Also, the average age of people who have tested positive in August remains below 40 for the second week in a row.

  • Twenty-Six new cases were reported between Aug 13 – Aug 20
  • Thirteen new cases were reported between Aug 6 – Aug 12
  • Twenty new cases were reported between July 30 – Aug 5
  • Twenty new cases were reported between July 23 – July 29
  • Twelve new cases were reported between July 16 – July 22
  • Sixteen new cases were reported between July 9 – July 15
  • Seventeen new cases were reported between July 2 – July 8
    • Total number of Wayne residents who have tested positive: 1,554

Positive cases this week include:

  • Men: 9
  • Women: 13
  • Average Age: 34.6
  • Age Range: 1 - 80

Of Note:

The weekly average age for new positive test results for Wayne residents remains below forty for two weeks in a row with this week coming in at 34.6 and the week before had an average age of 32.5.  A one-year-old, a four-year-old, four teenagers, four people in their twenties and four people in their thirties brought the average down.  Only two Wayne residents over 60 (68 and 80) tested positive this week.

As far as reported COVID-19 deaths for Wayne residents, August has been a very good month with only one death. This is a significant drop.  Here are the number of deaths per month for the last four months:
