MORRISTOWN, NJ - Nineteen students from the Morris School District will be performing in the 56th Annual North Jersey Band Concert this weekend at Mount Olive High School.
The concert brings together talented musicians from 32 middle schools and 40 high schools. The community is invited to attend the festival and hear these talented musicians play together. Each group will be playing 4-5 musical compositions. The event will take place this Saturday January 11 at 2pm at Mount Olive High School. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10.
Morristown High School music teacher David Gallagher will be conducting the middle school band this year. Gallagher has participated in the concert for the past three years, but this is his first time conducting.
"This is an amazing experience", Gallagher stated about conducting the middle school group. "I'm very excited"
Gallagher will be lead approximately 100 students from 32 middle schools. The 12 student attending from Frelinghuysen Middle School include Aidan Orbeta (Bassoon), Kaylee Janosy (Clarinet), Mary Gillen (Oboe), Olivia Gustavsen (Flute), Kyle Gurney (French Horn), Roman Santaniello (Percussion), Arien Deepu (Clarinet), Zephan Deepu (Clarinet), Jonathan Crysler (french Horn), Jonah Sulkin (French Horn), Brndon Arzberger (Trumpet) and Oliver Rosenthal (Trombone). The middle school students were all nominated to participate.
The middle school band will include students from Anthony Wayne Middle School (Wayne), Briarcliff Middle School (Mountain Lakes), Byram Intermediate School (Stanhope), Chatham Middle School (Chatham), Copeland Middle School (Rockaway), Dover Middle School (Dover), East Hanover Middle School (East Hanover), Frankford Township Middle School (Brandville), Glen Meadow Middle School (Vernon), Jefferson Township Middle School (Vernon), Hackettstown Middle School (Hackettstown), Kittatinny Regional Middle School (Newton), Lincoln Park Middle School (Lincoln Park), Little Falls Middle School No. 1 (Little Falls), Long Pond School (Andover), Long Valley Middle School (Long Valley), Macopin Middle School (West Milford), Martin J. Ryerson Middle School (Ringwood), Memorial Junior School (Whippany), Mendham Township Middle School (Mendham), Mount Olive Middle School (Mount Olive), Pearl R. Miller Middle School (Kinnelon), Pequannock Valley Middle School (Pompton Plains), Randolph Middle School (Randolph), Richard Butler School (Butler), Rockaway Valley School (Boonton Township), Schuyler Colfax Middle School (Wayne), Sussex Middle School (Sussex), Thomas Jefferson Middle School (Rockaway), Walter T. Bergen Middle School (Bloomingdale) and Valleyview Middle School (Denvile).
Seven students from Morristown High School will be participating in the high school band. After an audition Henry Mruz (Euphonium), Zach Diringer (Clarinet), and Arthur Wawrzyniak (Percussion) will perform with the Symphonic Band and Alex Yip (Trumpet), Collin Yip (Clarinet), Charlotte Eriksen (Soprano Saxophone), and Audrey Schneider (Flute) will perform with the Wind Ensemble. The Symphonic Band will be directed by Jarred Matthes of Kittatinny Regional High School and the Wind Ensemble will be directed by Professor Darryl Bott of Rutgers University.
The high school bands include 140 students from 40 high schools including Butler High School, Chatham High School, Columbia High School, Dover High School, Hackettstown High School, Hanover Park High School, Hawthorne High School, High Point Regional High School, Hopatcong High School, Indian Hills High School, James Caldwell High School, Jefferson Township High School, Kinnelon High School, Kittatinny Regional High School, Lakeland Regional High School, Lenape Valley Regional High School, Livingston High School, Madison High School, Montville Township High School, Morris Hills High School, Mount Olive High School, Mountain Lakes High School, Newton High School, Nutley High School, Parsippany High School, Parsippany Hills High School, Passaic Valley High School, Pequannock Township High School, Randolph High School, Vernon Township High School, Wayne Hills High School, Wayne Valley High School, West Essex High School, West Milford High School, West Morris Central High School, West Morris Mendham High School, West Orange High School and Whippany Park High School.
Tickets to the concert will be available at the door, on the day of the performance. Tickets can be purchased for $10. Mount Olive High School is located at 18 Corey Road in Flanders.
