WAYNE, NJ - Fire Report from Wayne Fire Commissioner Bob Minarick
At 7:32 this morning Wayne Fire Companies One and Two were dispatched to 70 Old Turnpike Road for a reported brush fire with a golf cart involved.
When the first fire units arrived, they found the actual fire was now a golf shed, brush, and a golf cart. Also, the best access to the fire was changed to The Willowbrook Golf Center, 366 RT 46 East Service Road.
Considering the amount of manpower that would now be necessary for this incident a second alarm was transmitted and Fire Company Five was added to the call at 7:45am.
Eight-hundred feet of hose was laid from the fire hydrant on the service road to the scene of the fire. The blaze was quickly contained but due to the large number of items and product in and around the shed the overhaul was extensive.
Crews continued to wet everything down and all apparatus were back in service by 9:45am. The incident is under investigation by the Wayne Fire Bureau.
No injuries were reported.
The weather was sunny and approximately 56 degrees.
The Wayne Police Department provided scene control and the Wayne First Aid Squad was on scene should there have been any Fire Department injuries.
