WAYNE, NJ - Packanack Lake Fire Company #5 was called to the scene of a structure fire in Pequannock at 1:34am on Friday, December 27.
Upon arrival, the Wayne Fire Fighters found the building that held Cosmo Bella Pizzeria on the first floor and apartments on the second floor engulfed in flames. Both Pequannock volunteer fire companies were on hand to fight the blaze while Wayne's fire fighters were on standby to act as the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) if a firefighter entrapment occurred. Fortunately, there was no entrapment and no one hurt.
The building was a total loss.
It was a busy day for Wayne firefighters, as earlier, Wayne Community Fire Company #1 and P.O.L. Fire Company #2 responded to a request for mutual aid at the scene of a working fire of a detached two-car garage in Lincoln Park. Both Wayne companies actively assisted in extinguishing the fire.
