WAYNE, NJ – The Wayne Valley High School spring sports booster clubs joined forces to celebrate the athletes whose spring sport seasons never happened this year in a special outdoor gathering held at the school’s athletic fields.

Tracy DeLuccia, the boys Volleyball booster club led the way in creating the event. WV Athletic Director Dave “Droz” Drozjock said: “They were here three hours early to decorate with banners and posters and really made it look special for the kids.”

Spring sports for Wayne Valley includes: Baseball, Softball, Lacrosse, Track and Field, Golf, Boys Tennis and Boys Volleyball.

“Missing spring sports was hard for all of us, so getting to see our players and congratulate them on their effort and accomplishments over the last four years was important,” added Droz.

For seniors, missing this season meant missing their final season of high school sports which was a huge dissapointment for all, especially for the Boys Volleyball team that had a good chance at a state championship this year.

As the kids showed up, they greeted their coaches at their respective fields, got together with their teammates, told stories, shared laughs and posed for pictures.

“They really enjoyed seeing each other and being able to have that last celebration of Wayne Valley Spring Sports,” said the Athletic Director. “It really meant a lot to all of us.
