2017 Primary Election Results Are In for the Borough of Caldwell

Henderson Cole, Democratic Nominee for Caldwell Council.
Councilman John Cascarano, Republican Incumbent.
Councilman Kristian Brown, Republican Incumbent.

CALDWELL, NJ — In the primary election for Caldwell Borough Council, Republican incumbents John Cascarano and Kristian Brown earned 195 and 194 votes apiece in the borough, respectively, compared to 439 and 432 votes respectively for Democratic candidates Jonathan Lace and Henderson Cole.

According to the Essex County Clerk’s Office (ECCO), a total of 871 constituents voted for Jonathan Lace and Henderson Cole to serve a three-year term on the council. In comparison, a total of 390 residents voted for Kristian Brown and John Cascarano for the same three-year term.

Out of a total of 244,457 registered voters for the Democratic Party in Essex County, a total of 65,262 voted in the primary on Tuesday, according to the ECCO. Approximately 63,036 Democratic votes for State Governor resulted in a Phil Murphy victory with 56 percent of the vote, followed by Jim Johnson with approximately 30 percent.

Out of a total of 47,912 registered voters for the Republican Party of Essex County, a total of 7,193 voted. Approximately 6,981 Republican votes for State Governor resulted in a Jack Ciattarelli victory with 43 percent of the vote, followed by Kim Guadagno with 29 percent.
