FAIRFIELD, NJ — In the early hours of Tuesday morning, the Fairfield police and fire departments responded to a house fire at 39 Pier Lane. The fire is currently under investigation, and no individuals were injured in the blaze.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the area after receiving a report of a strong odor of smoke at approximately 4:09 a.m. Upon arrival, police discovered that the house was vacant and that no one was currently living there.

There was a large amount of fire located in the rear of the house, according to police. Due to the intense heat and the proximity of the vacant home to the neighboring ones, all adjacent homes were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

The Fairfield Fire Department, West Essex First Aid Squad and other area fire departments responded to the scene and eventually extinguished the fire.

According to police, an official from the Fairfield Fire Department is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze.
