GLEN RIDGE, NJ - The James Caldwell varsity baseball team broke open a close game with three runs in the sixth inning and went on to an 8-4 victory over Glen Ridge on Wednesday.
John Housel hit a two-run double and scored two runs for the Chiefs (3-1), who scored three times in the sixth to take a 6-2 lead. Jason Costa singled twice, drove in a run and scored a run for Caldwell, which added two more runs in the seventh inning.
Bryce Bayard, a junior right-hander, allowed just three hits and no earned runs in 6 2/3 innings to earn the victory. Bayard struck out three and walked two.
