WEST CALDWELL, NJ - Junior left-hander Evan Dyer pitched a two-hitter to lift Caldwell to an 8-0 baseball victory over Newark East Side in the first round of the Greater Newark Tournament on Saturday.

Dyer (5-0) struck out four and walked two, but was locked in a scoreless duel until the Chiefs (14-4) scored two runs in the fifth inning. Caldwell then broke the game open with six runs in the sixth inning.

Jason Costa singled, doubled and drove in three runs and Jon Demattheis hit a three-run double that gave Caldwell an 8-0 lead in the sixth inning.
