WEST CALDWELL, NJ - The Caldwell baseball team's run in the post-season came to an end with a 9-8 loss to Whippany Park Tuesday in the semifinal round of the NJSIAA Section 2, Group 2 tournament.

Caldwell (19-8) rallied from an 8-4 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Chiefs had a chance to win in the bottom of the eighth, when they had a runner thrown out at home plate trying to score on a foul fly ball.

Jon DeMattheis had an RBI single for Caldwell. Losing pitcher Brian Rolser turned in a strong effort in relief, allowing just one earned run in five innings pitched.
